A Quick (like 40-minute-quick) Trip to Paternoster.
It was a Sunday, and I was going to be treated to a Portuguese fish dish, but we had no white onions. (Red onions don’t cut it.) The closest shop was the Ok Minimark in Paternoster, so off I go, with camera as always, happy for any opportunity.
I got there just before they closed at 4pm, then took a quick walk around, before rushing back. Here are a few shots in the space of about 40 mins..
I stepped out of the OK, and these guys were waiting for #6..
Reunited :)
I asked him, "Are you AJ?" He was, indeed, so we had a quick chat about business, gentrification etc.. He's lived there his whole life.
The red Coca-Cola signs don't age well.
I'm always asked to take a photo. Ok, come face the sun. Where are you okes off to? We're off to AJ's.. Cool, ek het hom nou net ontmoet.
I prefer walking around the older parts of Paternoster, where the living is real.
I love the cameo appearance of the dog.
He was happy to pose for a photo, alongside his boat.
Can I take a photo of you taking a photo?
(A bit of a habit of mine!)
This is Elizabeth, she is 73, and one of The Originals, as I refer to them. Elizabeth is enjoying her seaview. (I’m sorry I didn’t capture that.)
The chimney of this fisherman’s cottage is typical of the architecture of the area.
They had a run on Springbok jerseys this weekend, before our momentous win over the All Blacks.
‘n bietjie barok..
One more for my Windows collection. 🙂That's the sea in the distance.
They have their little sunspot to enjoy a beer or three, conveniently situated right next to the bottle store.
The local church. Well, a small part of it..
For the love of minimalism.
For the love of minimalism.
Eish, RIP!🙏🙏
Heading down the homestretch, after a quick howzit to the cows.
