A Very Short Story about Kindred Souls..

While waiting for my friend at her doctor’s appointment, I busied myself taking some random shots.

Defunct fuel pumps, retained for their historical and/or ornamental value.

I then noticed these three dogs crossing the road, in the crappy photo below. I deleted it, only to realise later it formed part of this story. (I managed to recover it from my SD card later, not without some difficulty. I had to d/l some software first.)

They looked like they were somehow related, wire-haired mixed-breed. Cute. I then got out of the car to try to get a better pic of the trio.

As I did so, this lady came by, hauling one of those classic, vintage wicker trolleys, her jersey somehow matching. I just assumed she was going to the shop.

You can see a dog coming into view..

Desiree, (her name, as I found out later), walked straight past the shop entrance, with the dogs in tow..

..dipped into her trolley and took out a bag of dog pellets. The food disappeared as quickly as she could dish it out.

I thought, “No Ways!” I got chatting to her, and this is one of her daily routines- feeding hungry dogs.

Desiree told me her boss suggested she take early retirement and go enjoy her life, as she was rapidly losing her eyesight. She did just that, and this is how she has chosen to dedicate her time: being an angel to Earth’s angels: dogs.

I said, “You have to meet my friend Tracey. She would love to meet you. She has a permanent stash of dog food in her car to feed random dogs on just such occasions. She has her own family of four dogs and three cats, all rescues.”

So when Tracey emerged from the doctor's, I introduced them, they had an engaging chat around this common heartfelt interest, and exchanged phone numbers.

Tracey braked without hesitation to give this bare-ribbed thirsty old warrior some water..

..before going on his way to who knows where.

He looked like he had been in several dog fights, which is quite prevalent in the area, I’m told.

Tracey feeding some dogs, while their owners’ money is being spent elsewhere. The humans did acknowledge and appreciate her generosity, though, as did the dogs.

Bless these kind-hearted souls, is all I can say!
