It was an early start to get to a good vantage point before the riders. This amazing amphitheatre was as good a spot as any!
The sound of the helicopter was the early warning system. Spot it, dwarfed by the spectacular mountains.
The second peloton, about to enter the Cogmans Kloof arch.
The famous rock arch at Cogmans Kloof, on the R62, is known as the Kalkoenkrantz Tunnel (or Turkey Crag). It was blasted by none other than Thomas Bain, way back in 1877.
Some of the majestic scenery the riders were treated to, but I doubt had time to notice.
The riders came through thick and fast! Every now and again my poor camera would flatline from overheating.
The pelotons were released in waves, according to their seedings, 2:30 minutes apart.
Parting shot.
A quick note of thanks to Kamin Taute of Montagu Trails for the ride home. Pleasure to meet you and your team!
